Mick praise for Blues ahead of 'six-pointer' at Huddersfield

Mick McCarthy hasn’t played down the importance of tomorrow’s trip to Huddersfield.

The Terriers sit just one place above the drop zone but are only a point behind Blues in a Championship table that sees only six points separate Millwall in 14th with Wolves who are in the bottom three.

“Call it a six pointer, whatever cliché you want to use – it’s a big game, a really important game for the two of us,” Mick told the Club website.

“We both lost in midweek, in different circumstances. We didn’t play that well against Watford but were beaten by a very good side. Huddersfield got a bit of a beating at Forest, conceding six and they will be looking for a reaction from that.

“I saw Huddersfield play at the start of the season and they looked a really good team but they have spiraled down the table.

“They aren’t the only club and when you look at the table, even Millwall who are halfway up are getting dragged back into it. I don’t think they will have a problem in the end but they will be looking over their shoulders at the moment.

“Blackpool are the same. When you think where they were just a few months ago yet they are only two points above us in the table.

“We have picked up 31 points since the start of November and that form – if the season started then – would have us in the top four so the players deserve a lot of credit.

“They have been fantastic but we know there is still a lot of work to be done.”
