Carson called up by Northern Ireland for friendly

Josh Carson has been added to the Northern Ireland squad for their friendly in Malta this week.

The 19-year-old, who has four caps, wasn’t in the initial squad but injuries have seen manager Michael O’Neill lose six players, with Josh one of three new additions to the travelling party for the game on Wednesday.

Josh joins Carlos Edwards, who is in the Trinidad and Tobago squad for their friendly against Peru on Wednesday and loanee Stephen Henderson, in their squad for the Republic of Ireland against Poland, on international duty this week.

Elliott Hewitt is in the Wales U21 squad for their friendly against Iceland, who include fellow Town teenager Gunnar Thorsteinsson in their squad, with the game played at Llanelli on Wednesday.

Meanwhile Town’s U18s beat Brighton 4-2 on Saturday, with Jack Marriott (2), Joe Robinson and Byron Lawrence on target.
