Terry delighted with performance and win as Blues cheer up Mick

Terry Connor said the win and the performance against Middlesbrough was the perfect tonic for manager Mick McCarthy.

The boss missed the 4-0 win at Portman Road with the virus that has kept him off work for most of the week.

“It’s the first game he has missed in 20 odd years of being a manager but the result will have picked him up,” Terry told the Club website.

“I spoke to Mick after the game and he was delighted with the win and hopefully he will be back at work on Monday.

“He picked the team from the feedback I gave him during the week and then he left it with me. The icing on the cake for Mick will be Tommy, a centre-half, scoring two goals!

“It was a good performance and a good win. David McGoldrick’s goal was the key moment. There are fine lines in football. They had a chance early in the second-half that went wide and we went up the other end and David scores a terrific goal.

“The handbrake went off our play after that and we really went out and played some good football.”
