Leddy strikes twice and Marriott on target in win

Town won 3-1 in a well contested game with two goals from captain Jonathan Leddy and one from in-form striker Jack Marriott.

Blues opened the scoring close to half-time with Leddy notching from a set-piece.

Barnet drew level before the break with Ryan Battista scoring from the edge of the box.

Marriott put Town back in front 10 minutes into the second-half with a shot from inside the box and Leddy made sure of the victory with a penalty late on.

Town came close early on when Kyle Hammond cut the ball across the box to Marriott who shot over the bar.

Michael Crowe then made a great one on one save to prevent George Sykes from putting the Bees ahead.

Marriott came close again shooting just wide of the left post when clean through before Blues edged ahead. Tom Winter sent over a free-kick and Leddy’s out-stretched foot diverted the ball over the line.

Barnet were level before the break with Battista shooting across Crowe from the edge of the area.

Just over 10 minutes into the second-half Town were in front again, Marriott  hammering the ball into the net after a goalmouth scramble.

Town came close to a third with Ramadan touching Leddy's shot towards goal but Barnes pulled off a great save.

Blues were not to be denied though with Leddy adding his second and Town’s third from the penalty spot.
