HAPPY TO HELP OUT

31 January 2013

Stears delighted to team up with Mick again and is ready to give his all to the Town cause

Richard Stearman insisted that he is ready to give his all for Town and Mick McCarthy, after joining on loan from Wolves this week.

The defender, who can play at either right-back or centre-back, is in contention to make his Blues debut this weekend against Middlesbrough, with Bradley Orr’s return to Blackburn opening up a slot in the backline.

Now the former Leicester man wants to repay the faith shown in him by Mick after the Town boss signed Richard for the second time in his career in somewhat of a ‘whirlwind’ deal.

“I finished training at Wolves on the Monday and was told I was wanted at Portman Road, so I jumped at the chance to come down here,” Stears told the Club website.

“Obviously I know Mick and TC (Terry Connor) well so the chance to team up with them two again was something that really appealed to me.

“I’ve always looked at Ipswich from afar as a Club with a rich history and a great fanbase, so I know that I’ve joined a good Club.

“Most people know me as a right-back, but I’m just as comfortable playing at centre-half.

“With Bradley (Orr) going (back to Blackburn) it opens up a slot at right-back so predominately I will be looking to get in the side there, but you will have to ask the manager where he sees me playing!

“I’m just really keen to get started here. Hopefully I can impress in training, get into the side and help move Ipswich up the table.”
