Skipper David gutted with defeat but has praise for the character of his Town team-mates
David October admitted he and his Town team-mates are ‘gutted’ to be out of the FA Youth Cup but does believe that many positives can be taken from the game, despite the result.
Russell Osman’s young Blues lost 3-2 to Derby at Pride Park, to see their Cup run come to an end in the East Midlands.
But Blues skipper David hailed the character and fight of his side but admits not progressing further in the Youth Cup is a tough one to take.
“The Youth Cup is all about progression and it’s a difficult one to take tonight, as we’ve played well but not won the game,” David told the Club website.
“The lads are absolutely gutted in the dressing room to be out of the competition but we just have to pick ourselves up and take the positives from the game.
“We matched a very good Derby side for long periods of the game and perhaps if we had taken our chances when we had them then we could be talking about a more positive result.
“I have to credit my team-mates though as they showed so much character and we fought and battled until the last whistle, but unfortunately it wasn’t quite enough tonight.”
