U21S TOO STRONG FOR CHARLTON

14 January 2013

Kisnorbo and Emmanuel-Thomas on target as strong Town side beat Addicks 2-1 at Sparrows Lane

Town’s U21 development squad started 2013 with a win after beating Charlton 2-1 at Sparrows Lane.

Patrick Kisnorbo, playing as one of three permitted overage players, fired Blues in front on the stroke of half-time, before Jay Emmanuel-Thomas doubled Town’s advantage midway through the second-half.

Charlton striker Ade Azeez did net a consolation for the Addicks in injury time but Town were good value for the win.

Coach Mark Kennedy picked a strong Blues line-up, including first-teamers Arran Lee-Barrett, Elliott Hewitt, Josh Carson and goalscorers Kisnorbo and Emmanuel-Thomas.

Recent capture Tyrone Mings gained further experience with a 90 minute run-out, whilst trialists Petru Raca and Kynan Isaac were also given the opportunity to impress the watching Mick McCarthy.

Town: Lee-Barrett, Raca, Kisnorbo, Mings, Whight, Isaac (Burke 84), Hewitt, Carson, Lawrence, Emmanuel-Thomas, Nouble. Subs not used: Crowe, October, Berkane, Marriott.
