Mick happy with draw at Championship leaders Cardiff

Mick McCarthy felt Town were well worth the point against Championship leaders Cardiff.

Blues more than matched the Bluebirds over the 90 minutes at a freezing and windswept Cardiff City Stadium and came closest to winning the game with Guirane N’Daw hitting the bar with a 30 yarder in the first-half.

“We played very well and I think it was probably a fair result in the end,” said the Town boss.

“I would have taken the point before the game and I’m happy to take it now. We probably had the better of the chances.

“We had to defend against some set-pieces and we did that very well. Overall it was a good performance and on another day we could have got three points.  There was 27 points between the teams when we kicked off and I don’t think that was reflected in the play.

“Frank Nouble was unlucky at the end and was close to winning it for us and I was delighted with his contribution. The two new lads upfront [McGoldrick and Mclean] did well and I was delighted with the attitude of Daryl Murphy and Michael Chopra as well. They were disappointed to be left out but went on and made a contribution and that gives me plenty of competition for places.”
