We were close to our best says Mick, with Taylor return another positive
Goals from Luke Chambers, David McGoldrick and a Daryl Murphy penalty gave Blues a 3-0 victory down the A12, with Tayls making his first appearance in 10 months following surgery on his foot.
“We were nowhere near our best on Saturday against Barnet but we were tonight,” said the Town boss.
“We played with a good intensity and but for two terrific saves we could have been further in front.
“It was a good delivery for the first goal, and good movement by our centre-half [Chambers]. That was pleasing and I thought David McGoldrick deserved his goal. He was outstanding, his movement and awareness were first class.
“We’re obviously delighted to see Paul Taylor back in action as well. No one was more delighted than Tayls though. He’s going to be a real handful.”
Town lost Cole Skuse to a knee injury on 15 minutes and there was no place in the squad for Michael Chopra.
“We will know more in the morning about Cole,” added Mick. “Michael Chopra is talking to a club. We will see what happens from there.”
