Left-back David October expressed his delight at helping Town beat Gillingham following his last-gasp winner

David October was delighted to net his first Town goal in the win over Gillingham last night and believes the lads will only get better as pre-season goes on.

The left-back volleyed home the winner against the Gills with the last kick of the game, to see Blues win 2-1 with David McGoldrick also on the scoresheet for Town.

“It was a good win last night and I was delighted to score my first goal for the Club,” David told the Club website.

“I don’t get too many goals so I was delighted to see that one fly into the back of the net! I made a good connection and hit the ball sweetly on the volley.

“Gillingham are a good side and the games are getting harder and harder as pre-season is going on, but that is what we need as we build up to the season.

“It’s been a good pre-season so far as we’ve won all of our games so far which is pleasing, but obviously the main concern is getting ourselves fit and sharp.

“The spirit in the camp is great and the lads are picking up the pace in pre-season now, so hopefully we will be looking good come August.”
