Gerken signs two year deal after impressing on trial

Town have signed Dean Gerken on a two year contract.

The 28-year-old ‘keeper joins as a free agent after impressing during a three week trial at Portman Road, which saw him feature in the friendlies against Shelbourne and Crawley.

Dean started his career at Colchester and spent seven years at the Essex club, making more than 100 appearances.

In his time with the U’s, he had a loan spell at Darlington and in 2009, he moved to Bristol City where he played over 50 games for the first-team, as well as being understudy to former England ‘keeper David James.

Dean was released by the Robins in the summer following the end of his contract. His move to Town sees him reunited with two of his team-mates from Ashton Gate, Cole Skuse and Paul Anderson as well as his ex-Colchester team-mate, Anthony Wordsworth.
