Skipper's Gold Cup hopes are fading

Carlos Edwards’ participation in the Gold Cup could be over if Trinidad and Tobago don’t win their last group game against Honduras today.

The Town skipper has been away on international duty with his country but a 2-2 draw with El Salvador and a surprise 2-0 defeat by Haiti over the weekend have left his team’s hopes of progressing looking slim.

Even victory over Honduras might not be enough to take Trinidad through to the next stage.

Carlos is expected to win his 87th cap in the game to be played in Houston.

Meanwhile a young Town side beat Chippenham in a friendly on Saturday. Trialist Joe Ward scored the only goal of the game in the last minute.

Town are next in action at Gillingham on Tuesday. Kick-off 7.30pm.
