MURPH SETTLED AT LAST

6 July 2013

Striker feeling benefits of a Town future

Daryl Murphy is relishing going into the new season with his future assured after a few years of uncertainty.

The Republic of Ireland international, who scored twice in today’s 2-0 win at Shelbourne in Blues’ first game of pre-season, is already feeling the benefits after signing a two year deal at Portman Road last month following three loans spells at the Club in his time at Sunderland and Celtic.

“It’s been unsettling for me over the last few years, going into pre-season,” Daryl told the Club website.

“I’ve never been sure whether I’ve been in the plans of the manager or whether I would have to go somewhere else to play football.

“This time it’s different. Thankfully I have signed permanently for Ipswich and I know that I will be going into the season being part of things at the Club.

“I can focus on my football and for the next two years I know I’m going to be an Ipswich Town player.

“It’s good for my family as well. They are settled in the area and know where our future is and if they are happy, that brings out the best from me on the pitch.”
