Scotland international agrees two-year deal at Portman Road
Scotland international Christophe Berra has agreed a two-year contract with Town.
The move sees the 28-year-old reunited with Blues boss Mick McCarthy, the two having worked together at Wolves.
Christophe started his career in Scotland with Hearts, where he progressed through their youth ranks and made close to 150 appearances.
He spent six years at Tynecastle before Mick signed him for a deal reported to be worth £2.3m in January 2009.
The Edinburgh-born player became a regular in the Molineux club’s line-up and helped them win promotion to the Premier League that season, retaining his place in the side throughout their three years in the top flight.
Capped 27 times by Scotland, he arrives at Portman Road as a free agent after coming to the end of his contract at Wolves. In total he made 154 appearances for the Midlanders.
"I’m delighted to have signed Christophe. It’s a fantastic signing," said Mick.
"He helped get us promoted at Wolves and helped keep us in the Premier League for two seasons and I’m amazed actually that it’s gone so long and he hasn’t got a club. It’s terrific for us.”
