TOWN TAKE A LOOK AT TITUS

16 July 2013

Bramble in squad to face Gillingham, with Veseli and Khumalo also set to play

Former Town defender Titus Bramble has been included in Blues’ squad for tonight’s friendly at Gillingham.

The 31-year-old defender, who has clocked up close on 300 Premier League appearances, trained with Town for the first time on Monday after spending two weeks with West Ham.

Bramble started his career as an apprentice at Portman Road and made 62 appearances for the first-team over a four year spell before joining Newcastle in 2002 in a £6m deal.

He spent five years at St James’ Park, then had three seasons in the top flight with Wigan and three more at Sunderland before being released at the end of last season.

Joining Bramble in the Town party for the trip to Priestfield are fellow trialists Frederic Veseli and Bongani Khumalo.

Veseli was with Town for the week long stay in Ireland but didn’t feature against Shelbourne. The 20-year-old defender is a free agent after being released by Manchester United in the summer.

A Switzerland U21 international, he joined United from Manchester City in 2012 but did not play for either club at first-team level.

Tottenham defender Khumalo spent last week at Town, the skipper of the South Africa national team playing the first-half of the 2-1 win over Crawley.
