Financial Fair Play bites as Mick joins watching game

Mick McCarthy says he is looking for a squad of at least 20 to take Town into the new season but says Financial Fair Play is making an impact in the game.

The Town boss has added Cole Skuse, Jay Tabb and Daryl Murphy to Blues’ ranks for 2013/14, with David McGoldrick set to join them in time for the big kick-off on August 3.

“I’m obviously delighted we have been able to bring in the players we have done,” Mick told the Club website.

“Of course we still want to add to that - we have lost a fair number of players from last year - and we’re looking for a squad of at least 20 but it’s been a quiet summer so far – in general.

“Financial Fair Play is definitely making an impact and players are not moving to clubs as quickly as in previous years.

“There are a lot of players not going back to work this week, players who will be waiting to see if they’ve got jobs and that is what it comes down to – jobs.

“It’s not been busy, it’s a watching game at the moment. We’re waiting to see who blinks first!”
