Andy Liddell pleased with the attitude and fitness levels of the Town squad ahead of the new season preparations

The Town first-team squad have returned to pre-season training in top shape, according to fitness coach Andy Liddell.

Mick McCarthy’s side returned to Playford Road for fitness and fat tests recently, before officially beginning the close season preparations this week.

“The lads have come back in good shape and their fitness levels all look really sharp for a starting point,” Lidds explained in an interview with Ipswich Player.

“I think the days of teams taking a week or two to gradually build up fitness in pre-season are gone, these days you need to come in and hit the ground running from day one.

“We’ve had the lads tested and they are all looking fit as fleas, which is great to see.

“Not only are the lads looking good fitness-wise but also they’ve come back in great spirits and the banter has been flowing throughout the squad.”
