HARD TO BEAT BLUES THE KEY

18 March 2013

We are giving ourselves a platform says Town boss

Mick McCarthy says his players’ resilience has been the key to Town’s improved form since he arrived at the Club.

Blues have picked up 39 points in 25 games since Mick took over at Portman Road at the start of November following the 1-0 win over Bolton at the weekend.

Town have conceded only one goal in the last five games and the boss points to that record as an illustration for the upturn in results.

“We were conceding a lot of goals when I came in here and it happened at Palace and Leicester as well, where we got slapped five and six,” Mick told the Club website.

“We have worked hard at stopping giving goals away and the players have responded to that.

“We are harder to beat now and if you can keep things tight, that gives you a great base to start from. It gives you a platform to go out and play. If you are hard to beat, you have given yourselves a chance and we have done that.”
