Changes at Reading don't affect me says midfielder
The 29-year-old midfielder has joined Blues from the Royals on an initial 28 day loan but has made it clear that he would like to stay at Portman Road beyond that.
McDermott was sacked this week with his successor yet to be appointed.
“I have had no contact from Reading apart from a text message saying what was going on at the club,” Jay told the Club website.
“I won’t be calling back to find out what the situation is. I’m very happy being here. I understand if a new manager comes in, then I might get a call but I’m not looking for it. I came here to play games and achieve something with Ipswich Town.
“I’m disappointed for Brian and his assistant Nigel Gibbs, who has also left Reading. They are good people but I’m an Ipswich player now and that is all that concerns me.”
Saturday’s matchday programme carries an exclusive and in-depth interview with Jay.
