Young Blues defeated by table-topping QPR
Town’s U18 side were beaten by league leaders QPR, losing 3-1 to the Londoners.
With the first-team and the U21 Development side also in action, the U18 side was somewhat depleted and Blues fielded a team that a number of U16 players.
Despite the inexperience in the side, Town took an early lead, with Cemal Ramadan showing real composure in front of goal to finish after being sent through one-on-one following a neat pass from Jack Willbye.
Willbye, who was skippering the young Blues, then came close to doubling Town’s lead, but his effort from the edge of the box was deflected just wide of the target.
However the Hoops were soon back on level terms as Aaron Mitchell seized on a loose ball to fire low into the corner after 46 minutes.
The visitors then took the lead a minute later, after being awarded a penalty following a foul by Omar Sowumni. Conor Hubble stepped up and coolly slotted home.
Things were to get worse for Town as the R’s added a third goal four minutes later, with Peter Skepotas heading home Ryan Young’s centre.
Town had a chance to pull a goal back but Ramadan couldn't re-find his composure from the first goal and scuffed his shot wide, before the referee called time on the game.
Meanwhile the U21s drew 0-0 with QPR in west London this morning.
