Aaron on target but Blues lose out in freezing conditions
Trialist Adeoye Yusuff got Blues’ other goal, with heavy snow and a strong wind throughout the match making conditions very difficult.
Michael Crowe was forced into action early on and pulled off a good save to tip the ball over the bar.
The visitors took the lead in the first-half through an own goal from Clarke, whose backpass evaded the on-rushing Crowe.
Town were level a minute later, Mclean putting the ball into the path of Yusuff placed his shot in the corner.
Crowe was kept busy by the Bees though and the Blues’ keeper was beaten either side of half-time before Mclean pulled a goal back 20 minutes from time, racing clear and then beating the ‘keeper in a one-on-one.
Town had chances to level the scores but Brentford held on to see out the victory in front of Blues’ coaching staff and a few brave spectators.
