Former Blues take part in our Soccer Sixes tournament at Portman Road led by manager for the day, Simon Milton!
Several former Blues were back at Portman Road, as they took part in the Club’s Soccer Sixes tournament, going on to win the competition by beating Terling Villa in the final.
Matt Holland, Fabian Wilnis, John Wark, Darren Currie and Kieron Dyer were amongst the names in an ‘Ipswich Town legends’ team, lead by our very own Simon Milton.
The tournament was organised by the Sales team here at the Club, with a fantastic uptake from supporters and clients with many teams involved in the tournament, which begins as a group stage before moving into the knockout rounds.

The champagne is out for our Soccer Sixes champions!
The former Blues expressed their delight at being back at Portman Road, as they explained to our Ipswich Player cameras.
“I got a call from the gaffer (Simon Milton) who informed me that there was a six-a-side tournament taking place and asked if I would be interested,” explains Darren Currie.
“My reply back to Milts took about 30 seconds and the chance to play at Portman Road again was something I didn’t need asking twice about.
“We’ve got a good side and hopefully we can do well. I’ve certainly been raring to go all week!”
Milts himself echoed the views of Darren and believes it’s a great day for all the corporate guests involved too, however he admits he may not see too much game-time due to the strength of the Town legends squad.
“People have been tweeting me all week and that’s great to see. To be honest though I think I’ve done myself a disservice, because the team is that good I can’t get in it, I’ve had to start myself on the subs bench!” Milts told us.
“But it’s a great day for everyone involved and it’s good to see the lads back out on the pitch again together in the Blue shirt.
“It’s a corporate event and I just thought it would be a great idea for those involved to have the chance to go up against some former Town players on the pitch.”
The Town Legends came out on top in the 'Round Robin' group stage, with Terling Villa finishing in second meaning both sides progressed to the main final.
