Teenage striker targeting more first-team exposure next season after making Blues bow at Burnley
Jack Marriott is looking for more first-team action next term and is aiming to hit the ground running once pre-season comes around.
The Academy graduate, who was offered a professional contract at Portman Road, made his first-team debut for Blues on the final day of the season, impressing in a cameo role in the defeat to Burnley.
Now the striker, who regularly found the net for the U18s and U21s last season, is targeting a regular place in the first-team squad.
“It was such a great feeling to make my debut and, although I know there is still a long way to go, I want another taste of playing in the first-team next season,” the teenager told the Club website.
“I’m working throughout the summer on my fitness, so that I’m hitting the ground running come pre-season.
“I want to be knocking on the first-team door and the only way to do that is to keep my head down and work as hard as I can in training and matches.
“When you get to men’s football, you know that the opponents are going to be bigger, stronger and try and get into your head a bit more but you have to expect that and adjust to it.
“I felt I did that against Burnley and I was pleased with my performance that day. It was just an honour to make my debut for this great Club and it’s certainly made me hungrier for another taste at this level.”
