SEASONAL CLUB CHARITIES

1 May 2013

We take a look at the three charities that Ipswich Town will be supporting this season

Club Charities

Every season Ipswich Town select two locally based charities to support and work with over the course of the season, in addition to the Club’s partner charity ITFC Charitable Trust.

For the 2012-13 season Ipswich Town will be supporting Age UK Suffolk and Lighthouse Women’s Aid, along with the ITFC Charitable Trust.

ITFC Charitable Trust

ITFC Charitable Trust is the registered partner Charity of Ipswich Town Football Club. Based at Portman Road, the Trust uses sport (in particular football) and their close relationship with the Football Club, as a way of making a positive difference to the lives of people living in and around Suffolk.

The charity works hard to provide children, young people and adults with the chance to take part in sport, health improvement and education activities that perhaps they may not otherwise have access to.

The Trust is constantly looking to improve and build upon what they have already achieved. Last year saw them work with over 60,000 people of all ages, abilities, communities and background, and the Club hope to support the Trust in continuing their great work within the local community for the foreseeable future.

Age UK Suffolk

A local and independent charity, Age UK Suffolk works to enable older people to manage the challenges that sometimes come with ageing, to retain choice and control over their lives, helping them to enjoy life rather than endure it. The charity offer a wide range of services throughout the county to improve people’s quality of life, enable their independent living at home and help maintain health through combating loneliness, social exclusion, poverty and depression in later life. Over the next year, Ipswich Town Football Club hope to help raise the profile of Age UK Suffolk and the excellent work they do to provide invaluable support for the older generation of the local community.

Lighthouse Women’s Aid

Lighthouse Women’s Aid is an independent charitable organisation providing emotional support to women and their children experiencing abuse in their personal or family relationships.

The charity works to support women and children who have suffered or are at risk of suffering from domestic violence and abuse by providing safe refuge, information and advice, emotional and practical support along with therapeutic interventions, to enable them to make informed choices about their lives.

The Club will be working alongside the charity over forthcoming season to help raise awareness of domestic violence and the services offered by Lighthouse Women’s Aid to help those who are in need of their support.
