Hewitt set for month long loan stay at Priestfield

Elliott Hewitt is joining Gillingham on a month’s loan.

The Wales U21 international will join up with his new team-mates at Priestfield on Thursday and could make his debut against Sheffield United at the weekend.

Elliott started the season in the right-back berth but has not featured in the Town first-team since the end of August.

Town boss Mick McCarthy has been looking to get the 19-year-out out on loan to add to his experience, with the deal keeping him at Priestfield until December 14, although Blues have a recall option after 28 days that could see him return to the Club for the trip to Nottingham Forest.

Elliott is not eligible for Gillingham’s FA Cup first round replay against Brackley Town as he was not with the League One club when the first game was played.

Town have yet to decide whether he will be free to play in the Second Round, with the Kent club travelling to Elliott’s former club Macclesfield if they progress.
