Left-back Cresswell praises the support of the Blue Army as Town take all three points from the Valley

Aaron Cresswell has praised the Blue Army in playing their part in helping Town secure ‘a massive three points’ against Charlton this afternoon.

Blues, who were backed by a travelling support of over 2,600, defeated the Addicks at The Valley thanks to an early goal from defender Tommy Smith.

Left-back Cresswell, back in the side following a two match suspension, was delighted to help the team take all three points and keep a clean sheet in the process.

“It’s a massive three points for us and in my opinion, full deserved,” the 23-year old told the Club website.

“It was a bit of a scrap but that’s the same for any away fixture in the Championship. Any away victory is a massive result and we’re obviously all delighted with the win and to keep a clean sheet too.

“All the lads really appreciate the support of the fans, who have come in their numbers today.

“They were louder than the Charlton fans, you could say and I know it’s not too far away but they still have to put their money and time in coming to support, so we really do appreciate it.

“To get over 2,500 fans away from home is great support in any division and they certainly played their part in helping us take the three points.”
