Daryl Murphy's last gasp goal gave Blues a first away win of the season at Bloomfield Road in a sensational finish.

Frank Nouble cancelled out Stephen Dobbie’s first-half goal midway through the second-half and then fellow substitute Paul Taylor looked to have won the game for Blues with his first strike for the Club five minutes from time.

Steven Davies equalised in added on time though but with virtually the last touch, Murphy forced the ball over the line.

Town made three changes to the side that drew with Barnsley, Tyrone Mings coming in for his first game since the opening day of the season to replace the suspended Aaron Cresswell. Jay Tabb and Carlos Edwards returned to the starting line-up with the injured Paul Anderson and Tommy Smith, who was away on international duty, making way.

Blackpool included former Blue, Michael Chopra on the bench and ex Town loanee Ricardo Fuller in their line-up and it was the Jamaica international who had the first chance, failing to get any purchase on his shot after Dobbie had set him up.
Dean Gerken had to be alert to head clear from Dobbie, while at the other end – another former Town loanee – Bradley Orr – cleared up for the home side as Daryl Murphy threatened, then David McGoldrick blazed a shot wide after Edwards had headed on.

Ryan Tunnicliffe was inches away from the opener on 25 minutes, the Manchester United loanee seeing his effort deflected wide after the ball pin-balled around the Blackpool box.

It was the Tangerines who got the breakthrough soon after though, Bobby Grant sent a cross in from deep and Dobbie was left alone to plant his header into the bottom corner.

It took a brilliant save from Gerken to keep out Grant, the ‘keeper getting a good hand to push the ball over the bar as Blackpool looked for a second before the break.

Town made two changes at half-time with Nouble and Taylor on for Tabb and Luke Hyam and Blues were almost rewarded immediately with Luke Chambers getting on the end of a corner but Matt Gilks came to Blackpool’s rescue.

Tom Ince, who had been kept quiet by Mings, saw his shot deflected wide but Town held the upper hand in the opening stages of the second-half and Murphy volleyed wide at the far post before the equaliser came on 65 minutes, great work by McGoldrick, operating in midfield and from his pass Nouble showed a good touch to beat his man and slide the ball past Gilks.

Steven Davies replaced Fuller in Blackpool’s first change, Stephen Hunt then introduced for his debut replacing the ill Christophe Berra.

Dan Gosling sent a 20 yarder just wide, then Gilks had to be quick off his line to stop Nouble getting in, then Orr slid in to stop Taylor inside the box.

Then with five minutes left on the clock, Taylor cut inside from the right and buried a left foot shot into the bottom corner to put Blues within touching distance of that first away win until Davies buried his chance in added on time.

But there was to be one last twist when from a Taylor corner, Murphy’s header slipped past Gilks and into the net to end that away day hoodoo in dramatic style.
