Hunty will get a club in January and it could be us says Mick
The Republic of Ireland international, who is included in Blues’ squad to face Leicester on Saturday, has signed a pay as you play deal that will keep him at Portman Road until the new year.
Mick admits he is surprised that the midfielder was available but having signed him on the short term, he says that making it a longer deal could be an option in January.
“Hunty is a very good footballer. He has played at the highest level and knows what the game is all about,” the Town boss told the Club website.
“He’s a great character, people bounce off him and I’m delighted we have got him here on the short term, and maybe longer as well. Who knows.
“He knows what I think of him and hopefully it’s mutual! I was surprised a player of his ability was still looking for a club when we signed him but I think he turned down a few offers in the summer that he probably regrets now.
“He will get a club in January because he deserves to be playing football. Will that be us? Could be. If he plays well we might have to bang down the door to sign him. If he plays well though, there could be other clubs banging down the door to sign him.”
