A GAME OF TWO HALVES

1 October 2013

We were very good first-half but Derby deserved the draw says boss

Mick McCarthy conceded Derby deserved a point after two contrasting halves from his Town side.

Blues led 4-1 at the break but the Rams rallied in the second-half and salvaged a point with a late equaliser from Craig Bryson.

“We are very disappointed not to win the game, of course we are,” said the Town boss.

“We played really well in the first-half and could have scored more than four but their goal 90 seconds into the second-half changed the course of the game.

“They had to make some changes at the break. They had nothing to lose and they pushed Bryson and Will Hughes further forward.

“They were being overrun in the first-half but we didn’t defend well in the second-half and to be fair to Derby they played really well and deserved the point in the end.”
