Weather affects preparations on and off the pitch

Town’s preparations for Friday’s game against Barnsley have been affected by the storm that swept across southern England on Monday morning.

The training ground has been without power for three days, meaning Monday’s training session took place in the dome with the players returning home to shower.

The players are using the dressing-room and catering facilities at the Club today but are training at Playford Road, with the Academy scholars following the same pattern this afternoon.

“We looked at the possibility of training on the main pitch but with the game on Friday, it’s too tight,” Town boss Mick McCarthy told the Club website.

With heavy traffic congestion also around the town, supporters are advised to allow extra time when travelling to the game against Barnsley on Friday and arrive at Portman Road in plenty of time.
