Striker delighted to notch a double for Town and praises solid team display as Blues see off Brighton at Portman Road

David McGoldrick was delighted to bag a brace for the Blues this afternoon, but was more impressed with the overall performance of his Town teammates.

The striker netted a quickfire double for Mick McCarthy’s side to see off Brighton at Portman Road, taking his tally for the season up to five and all his strikes coming at home.

“I’m delighted to score today and I feel confident at the minute,” the former Nottingham Forest man told the Club website.

“As a striker you are judged on scoring goals, so to score twice today is great but what’s even more pleasing is that we’ve got the win as a team and kept another clean sheet.

“My goals are all coming at Portman Road, but I’m fine with that. At the end of the day it’s just green grass so whether I’m scoring at home or away, I’m not bothered as long as I’m doing my bit for the team.

“Although I’ve scored twice, a lot of credit has to go to the boys because we’ve performed really well. The likes of Christophe Berra and Tommy Smith have been superb and they deserve the praise just as much as anyone else.”
