Town assistant manager Terry Connor recalls fond memories of his time at the Goldstone Ground as a Seagull to Ipswich Player

Terry Connor is busy preparing Town for the weekend, as Blues get set to take on one of his former clubs, Brighton & Hove Albion.

Mick McCarthy’s right-hand man made over 150 appearances for the Seagulls, after joining them from hometown club Leeds, and admits he has nothing but great things to say about the south coast outfit.

“It’s a great club and one that I have fond memories of,” explains TC in an exclusive interview with Ipswich Player.

“I joined Brighton when I was about 19 or 20 and for a lad born and raised in Leeds, it was a big wrench to move down there and leave behind all my family and friends.

“It’s funny because at the time I didn’t think anything was past London, so when I flew to Gatwick and then was told I’d have to drive another 45 minutes to get to Brighton I couldn’t believe it!

“But once I was there I loved every minute of it. The experience of living away from what I was used to really turned me from a boy into an experienced man and playing there did me the world of good.”
