Defender set for another cap as New Zealand warm up for World Cup decider

Tommy Smith looks likely to win his 24th cap for New Zealand when they face United Arab Emirates in the final of the OSN Cup today.

The game takes place in Riyadh in South Arabia, with the Town defender already clocking up 90 minutes during the international break, helping the All Whites beat the tournament hosts 1-0 last Thursday.

New Zealand are using the competition as preparation for their World Cup Play-Off against the fourth placed team in the CONCACAF group over two legs in November.

Elliott Hewitt is in the Wales U21 squad for their European Championship qualifier in Moldova on Tuesday. The defender remained on the bench as his countrymen were beaten 1-0 by San Marino on Friday.

Meanwhile Town’s U21s drew 2-2 with Fulham in a friendly on Friday, Alan Lee and Jack Marriott on the scoresheet.
