BURNLEY WILL WANT TO END ON A HIGH

24 April 2014

Mick warning that Clarets won't drop off despite promotion

Mick McCarthy has warned that Burnley will be looking to finish the season with a flourish even though they have already clinched promotion to the Premier League.

The Clarets sealed automatic promotion with a win against Wigan on Monday but with Leicester securing victory at Bolton 24 hours later, they can’t deprive the Foxes of the title.

“I have been in Burnley’s position when you are promoted and you have teams coming to you with everything to play for,” the Town boss told the Club website ahead of Saturday’s trip to Turf Moor.

“They will be celebrating this week and good luck to them. They have been fantastic and deserve it.

“People might have wondered if they could continue with the form they showed with a small squad but they did and they deserve all the plaudits going.

“When it comes around to Saturday, they will want to go out on a high in front of their home fans. They will want to finish the season with a flourish.”

Kick-off against Burnley is 12.15pm with the game shown live on Sky TV.
