Striker to undergo surgery after damaging his knee cartilage with Jack Marriott set to be recalled from loan spell at Woking

Town boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that David McGoldrick has suffered a setback in his return from injury- and that Jack Marriott is set to be recalled from his loan spell at Woking.

The Blues’ top scorer will now miss the rest of the season with a knee injury and will undergo surgery in London today.

Meanwhile young striker Jack, who has been on loan with Woking and Gillingham this term, will report to Portman Road tomorrow and could be involved on Saturday.

“Didz has nicked his cartilage whilst running on the Training Ground and is having an operation today,” Mick told Ipswich Player.

“It’s disappointing for him as he’s been doing really well in his rehab. It will be about getting him ready for next season now.

“Jack will be back with us tomorrow. Woking are safe, he’s gone there and scored goals and he’s fit so will be in contention for selection.”
