Rebecca talks us through her experience of Flying the Flag before Town's game with Doncaster recently
Rebecca is one of over 200 children that have participated in Town’s new matchday experience for supporters under the age of 16. The event is designed to include all abilities and there is no previous football experience necessary. Here Rebecca outlines her time flying the flag at Ipswich Town.
Flying the Flag
My name is Rebecca and I flew the flag at Portman Road on Saturday 12th April 2014.This game of football was against Doncaster Rovers, we won 2-1! This day is special because it started at 3:07pm instead of 3:00pm because of the 96 people that died at the Hillsborough disaster 25 years ago. It was also special because it was for my 8th birthday!
When I first arrived I was very nervous, especially when I was the only girl, but as soon as I got onto the pitch and had a kick around with Crazee, I was having lots of fun even though there were lots of boys!
When it got to the time when I was going to fly the flag, I was leading behind Crazee (the horse). I enjoyed leading all the boys!
It was very exciting when the players came out of the tunnel for the start of the game and it was LOTS of fun!!!!
I hope that my story encourages other Junior Blues boys and GIRLS to want to fly the flag too!
It was a brilliant day!
