McQueen double as Town end season on winning note

Two late Darren McQueen goals saw Town come from behind to end the U21 season on a winning note.

Town started the game brightly and Sam Ford almost made it the perfect start but Gregor Zabret in the Swansea goal saved his shot from 20-yards.

It was the visitors who took the lead in the 12th minute though when Kenji Gorre's long-range effort wasn’t gathered by Michael Crowe and Henry Jones tapped in the rebound from close range.

Town grew into the game and came close through captain Byron Lawrence, with his shot across being met by a strong hand from Zabret, who pushed it out for a corner.

Kriss Scott should have added a second for Swansea though when he headed over but it looked like the visitors would hold on for the win as the clock ticked around to the last three minutes, then McQueen was in the right place to level the scores after Zabret spilled a cross.

Two minutes later the Swansea ‘keeper couldn’t deal with Freddie Veseli's long-range shot and McQueen was on hand to slide home the winner.
