Mick hails deserved equaliser and has praise for Ando

Mick McCarthy hailed the point against Birmingham as a ‘big one’ after Christophe Berra’s last gasp equaliser.

The Scotland international headed home from Paul Anderson’s cross to follow up his first goal early in the second-half and take his tally to three in two games at St Andrew’s.

“It makes a huge difference to the atmosphere, that goal,” said the Town boss following the 2-2 draw.

“When we are travelling back tonight, when we are in tomorrow, it feels a whole lot better with something to show from the game.

“It’s a big point for us, obviously ahead of Norwich at the weekend and a deserved one as well.

“Ando has put in a great free-kick for the first goal and then his cross, when he is going the wrong way, was outstanding for the second.

“We teased Christophe for the first goal, saying he didn’t touch it but having seen it on video, he got a nick on it but there was no doubt about the second and he should score goals. He is a threat in the air.”
