Town's traditional hospital visits begin, with help from local businesses

Mick McCarthy and some of his first-team players kick-off the traditional Christmas visits to local hospitals and hospices today by Town staff.

The players have donated money to purchase presents for the visits, with Boots assisting the Club with a discount on gifts for Ipswich, Colchester and West Suffolk children’s wards as well as donating all the wrapping paper needed to wrap the presents.

East of England Co-op have helped with the purchase of food items for both St. Elizabeth and St.Nicholas Hospice, as well as donating an iPad to East Anglia Children’s Hospice too.

Town’s PR manager, Jade Cole, told the Club website: “Both Boots and East of England Co-op have been a great help to us.

“Boots have given us some great discounts on the presents we have been able to buy and the East of England Co-op have shown their generosity again this year.”

Tyrone Mings, Daryl Murphy and Luke Chambers were at Boots in Ipswich last week to purchase some of the presents and meet the store staff, as well as signing autographs for supporters.

The hospital visits will see the Town players visit EACH and Colchester Hospital today; St Nicholas Hospice in Bury St. Edmunds and West Suffolk Hospital on Tuesday, December 16 and St. Elizabeth Hospice and Ipswich Hospital on Thursday, December 18.
