Boss hails impact of Christophe and co at both ends of the pitch

Mick McCarthy has praised his defence for the impact they are having at both ends of the pitch.

Christophe Berra took his goal tally to five for the season with a tap-in against Leeds last week after Tommy Smith had powered in a header that looked destined for the net.

Tommy has netted twice this season himself - the New Zealand international having bagged six goals last term to edge out Christophe by one in their own personal goalscoring battle.

“We’ve got proper defenders who will put their bodies on the line to defend,” the Town boss told the Club website.

“They are scoring goals as well though and contributing at the other end of the park.

“Chambo, Tommy, Christophe are better than most in the Championship at attacking the ball. If anyone is better, they are doing well but I think they are the best.”
