Stubborn Town deserved the win says Mick

Mick McCarthy paid tribute to the spirit in the Town camp after Blues picked up another three points against Bolton.

David McGoldrick’s 15th goal of the season – from the penalty spot – was enough to separate the teams, leaving Blues just one place outside the Play-Off places.

“Those players put in another great shift and they do that for me and the Club every week,” Mick told the Club website.

“David McGoldrick, who is meant to be there to score the goals, typified that when he has made a 40, 50 yard run back to tackle Chris Eagles. What’s more, they do that sort of thing willingly.

“Bolton have got a good squad of players, make no mistake about that. A lot of their players have played in the Premier League and they came and made it difficult for us by getting two banks of four behind the ball.

“They were the better team in the first-half but the goal came out of us closing them down and upping the tempo in the second-half.

“It wasn’t pretty, it was us at our stubborn, belligerent best but we deserved the three points in the end and it keeps us right in there.”
