Republic of Ireland international joins Town on three month loan from Leeds
The 30-year-old midfielder is with the squad in preparation for today’s game at Barnsley, with the paperwork hopefully completed by the midday deadline in order for him to be available to feature against the Tykes.
Paul started his career at Doncaster and spent seven years with the Yorkshire club, making close on 280 appearances before he joined Derby in 2008.
He went on to play 143 times for the Rams, then left Pride Park at the end of his contract to head to Leeds in the summer of 2012.
Able to play at full-back as well as across midfield, he arrives at Portman Road with 46 appearances to his name for the Whites.
Capped 20 times for the Republic of Ireland, he was in their squad for the 2012 European Championships and featured in both matches in November 2013, against Latvia and Poland, under new manager Martin O’Neill and assistant, Roy Keane.
He has been handed the number 16 shirt at Portman Road, with his loan taking in the rest of the Championship fixtures.
