Midfielder hoping to play his part in Play-Off push and welcomes working under Mick

Jonny Williams has told Ipswich Player of his excitement at joining Town’s Play-Off push.

The 20-year-old Wales international has arrived on a month’s loan from Crystal Palace, signing just a few days after he scored for the Eagles in their 2-1 win against Blues’ U21s at Portman Road on Monday night.

Having played his part in Palace’s promotion from the Championship last season, the midfielder is looking for a repeat with Town this term and admitted he is relishing the chance of working with Mick McCarthy at Portman Road.

“I didn’t expect to be back here so quickly after playing at Ipswich on Monday but I’m really looking forward to my time here,” Jonny told Ipswich Player.

“Tony Pulis [Palace manager] told me I would be going out on loan after the game against Manchester United last weekend and I think there were two or three clubs interested.

“I spoke to Mick McCarthy after the game on Monday though and he told me Ipswich were interested and where he sees me playing in the team. He talked about his ambitions and I was excited about the challenge of coming here.

“I know what a great club Ipswich is. I know they have been in the top flight and I know that’s where they want to get back to.”
