Mick to look at strengthening defensive options in squad during window
Mick McCarthy has hinted that if he is to add to his squad in the January transfer window, he will look to strengthen his defensive options.
Full-backs Freddie Veseli and Elliott Hewitt have both gone out on loan for a month, to Bury and Gillingham respectively, joining striker Jack Marriott, who is also on loan at Gills for the rest of the campaign and wideman Jordan Graham, who has returned to Aston Villa at the end of his loan.
“I’m absolutely delighted with the squad of players we have got here and we have Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Hunty in there now as well,” the Town boss told the Club website.
“With the window open, it’s possible that we could have one or two changes. Players going out on loan might open things up to bring someone in.
“We have only used the five lads at the back, Cressy, Tyrone, Tommy Smith, Christophe Berra and Chambo and they have done remarkably well. That is perhaps an area where we could look to strengthen squad wise.”
Town are next in action against QPR at Portman Road on Saturday, January 11. Tickets are on sale now. Click here for full details. This game is all-ticket for Rangers fans.
