Mick happy to see young right-back continue to gain valuable experience with the Gills following Frazer Richardson's arrival
Elliott Hewitt looks set to extend his stay at Gillingham following Frazer Richardson’s arrival at Portman Road.
The Wales U21 international has impressed while on loan at Priestfield and Mick McCarthy has told the Club website that he’d be happy for the defender to continue his education with the League One club.
“Elliott needs to play games, he needs to see out the rest of the season playing another 20 matches,” the Town boss told www.itfc.co.uk.
“Then we will see his true mettle. We will see then if he can come back here and start next season in the first-team. It’s the same with Freddie Veseli [on loan at Bury].
“I had a chat with Peter Taylor [Gillingham boss] and told him I’m looking for an experienced right-back and if I could get one in, I’d discuss Elliott staying there.
“He’s doing well there, Gillingham want to keep him and I’d be happy for him to stay there.”
