Town skipper praises the support of the Blue Army as Town bow out of the FA Cup to Preston

Carlos Edwards has thanked the Town fans that made the long trip to Preston this evening and highlighted the loyal support shown.

Blues exited the FA Cup at the third round stage, going down 3-2 in an entertaining game at Deepdale which saw North End striker Joe Garner grab the headlines after netting a second-half hat-trick from the bench.

Frank Nouble and David McGoldrick did get themselves on the scoresheet for Town but it wasn’t enough as Mick McCarthy’s side bowed out of the Cup.

Despite the disappointment of the defeat, the Town skipper was quick to praise the travelling support.

“Fair play to the fans that made the trip, we do appreciate it and it’s always a pleasure to play in front of the Blue Army,” Carlos told the Club website.

“It’s a mammoth of a trip to make, especially on a Tuesday night and we’re very pleased to have such good, loyal support.

“Obviously we are disappointed not to have got the right result for the fans tonight but coming Saturday we are aiming to have the fans smiling again.”
