Cressy, Chambo and Cole all miss Preston trip as youth included in squad
Daryl Murphy is also sidelined having missed the defeat by QPR at the weekend with a thigh injury.
“The injuries are beginning to bite a bit. It’s just the amount of games,” Blues’ boss Mick McCarthy told the Club website.
“Chambo has a tight hamstring and I’m not prepared to risk him. It’s the same with Cressy. He’s got a bit of fluid on the knee. I’d rather they miss one game then aggravate the problem and be out for 10.
“Cole has a dead leg and he won’t travel and Murph is back training today but he won’t be making the trip either.
“So we will be making changes and two or three young lads will come in. Matt Clarke will travel. He was like a kitten who had just stuck his head into Battersea Dogs Home when he trained with us at the start of the season. He was so nervous.
“His confidence has grown since then. He’s done well when he has played for the U21s. When he is playing at his own age level, he looks a good player. He’s coming out of his shell now and training with the first-team and he’s doing well.”
Byron Lawrence and Kyle Hammond will also make the trip to Preston, with Matt handed the number 40 shirt.
