Mick confirms that Didz is progressing well and would like to see him feature in a friendly after joining in with training this week
Mick McCarthy has confirmed to the Club website that striker David McGoldrick may feature for Town before the pre-season programme has ended.
Last season’s top goalscorer is recovering from knee ligament damage but joined in training this week and now the gaffer is hoping to field Didz against either Southend or Leyton Orient next week.
“Didz trained this week and did some work with TC [Terry Connor] on Wednesday and Thursday, before joining in with one of my sessions on Friday,” explained the boss.
“He looked good and his fitness is absolutely fine. He’s a bit ring rusty because he’s returning from such a long injury lay-off but he’s doing well.
“I’d like to give Didz some game-time and providing he’s okay, we might see him play against Southend or Leyton Orient.
“We will be guided by him and the physios and if they all think he can feature, then I’d like to give him some time on the pitch.”
