Mick delighted to see Town kick-off the pre-season programme with a win and a clean sheet
Mick McCarthy was delighted with the performance of his players after seeing his side kick-off the pre-season programme on a winning note.
Blues ran out 4-0 winners against Shelbourne at Tolka Park, with Paul Anderson, Darren McQueen, Tyrone Mings and Jack Marriott all on the scoresheet.
“It was a good performance and the lads got a good run out today,” the Town boss told the official Club website.
“We know it’s only pre-season but I’d sooner win games then lose them!
“So it’s nice to win the game, but also it was pleasing to keep a clean sheet and put in a strong performance.”
Meanwhile, the gaffer also confirmed that Freddie Veseli missed the trip to Ireland because he was granted permission to join Swiss side FC Luzern on trial.
“Freddie has been training with Luzern and he’s back now,” added Mick.
“I’m not sure where we are with that now but they wanted to have a look at him and we allowed him to go and train with them.”
