Mick McCarthy lands new stopper on a two-year deal after agreeing terms with the Notts County No.1

Town have signed ‘keeper Bartosz Bialkowski from Notts County for an undisclosed fee.

The Polish stopper, who spent a brief period on loan with Blues without making an appearance in 2008, has agreed a two-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.

He becomes Mick McCarthy’s fifth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Cameron Stewart, Alex Henshall, Stephen Hunt and Jonathan Parr.

Bartosz arrives at Portman Road after playing a key role as Shaun Derry’s Magpies avoided relegation last season and will now compete with Dean Gerken for a starting place between the posts.

Capped at youth level by Poland, the ‘keeper is well established in the English game after lengthy spells at Southampton and County, as well as taking in a brief loan spell with Barnsley.
